Its leaves are approximately 1 to 7 cm long and 0.9 to 4.5 cm wide, being opposite or in trios. The flowers have white, pink, or blue-purple corollas forming inflorescences of 2 cm in length.<br \/>\nThis species is widely cultivated as an ornamental plant for its aromatic foliage and beautiful flowers.<br \/>\nThe composition of its essential oil is unique to each plant, but may include piperitone, geranial, neral, caryophyllene, camphor, eucalyptol, limonene, carvone, germacrene, linalool, or myrcene.
